Professor Predhiman Kaw was critically instrumental for LIGOIndia to happen. He was the first eminent scientist to suggest that India hosts the third LIGO detector than participate in LIGO-Australia. During the first negotiations with US partners, he bravely stood up, despite his obvious constraints, to accept the immense responsibility for guiding LIGO-India project. LIGO-India joins the Plasma physics community in saluting his great contributions to Indian Science.
Quote below from IPR:
“It’s heart breaking to inform you that Professor Predhiman Kaw is no more with us. He breathed last today evening.
He will be remembered as founder of Indian Plasma Physics program and a generous human being. He was an inspiration to many young people like me.
A huge loss to Indian Science.”
